The Roborock Q7 L5+ is a robot vacuum and mop supplied with an auto-empty dock. It vacuums with up to 8,000 Pa on hard floors and carpets, and its dual anti-tangle system cuts down on hair wrapping around the brushes. For mopping it carries a 0.28 litre water tank with three flow settings. It navigates with PreciSense LiDAR, which maps the home and stores several maps, and the Roborock app lets you pick rooms and no-go zones; Alexa and Google Assistant are supported. It climbs thresholds up to 2 cm. When finished it returns to the dock, which empties its 0.2 litre bin into a bag that the maker rates for up to seven weeks. The 3,200 mAh battery gives up to about 180 minutes of cleaning, and the robot measures 32.5 cm across and 99 mm high. Black finish.
When choosing a robot vacuum, compare the navigation and mapping system, the suction power, the battery runtime against the size of the home, the type of brushes (rubber brushes tangle less with hair) and, if it mops, how the mop is wetted and cleaned. The charging dock needs a socket and free space at the sides and in front; self-emptying docks use bags or bins that need emptying or replacing, and mop-washing docks have clean and dirty water tanks that are refilled and emptied by hand.
