The Festool SYS-AIR M (item 577785) is an air purifier for workshops and building sites, where fine dust that the extractor does not catch stays in the air after sanding, drilling or sawing. It is built into a Systainer³-format case, so it is carried by its handle and stacks with other cases from the system. Air passes through two filter stages, an 8,600 cm² pre-filter and a 24,600 cm² main filter approved for dust class M, at up to 680 m³/h with a 200 W input. It has two power levels and a warning light that shows when the filter needs changing. It comes with a 7.5 m cable and an appliance socket rated for up to 2,200 W. It can hang from the ceiling on an optional bracket or be built into a dust protection wall, and several units can run in series. It measures 396 x 296 x 437 mm and weighs 9.9 kg.
When choosing an air purifier, compare the clean air delivery rate (CADR) with the size of the room, the type of filters and how much and how often they cost to replace, the noise level at the speed you will use at night and, if fitted, the air-quality sensor with an auto mode. Place it on the floor or on stable furniture with free space around the air inlets and outlets, and replace the filters as the manufacturer or the unit itself indicates.
