The TP-Link Tapo RV30 Max Plus is a robot vacuum and mop supplied with an auto-empty dock. It vacuums with up to 5,300 Pa across five levels and mops from a 0.3 litre water tank with three wetness settings, while the air passes through a HEPA 11 filter. It navigates with LiDAR and a gyroscope, builds multi-floor maps and supports no-go zones and virtual walls in the Tapo app, as well as control through Alexa or Google Assistant. It climbs obstacles up to 2.2 cm and measures 33 cm across and 10 cm high, so it fits under many pieces of furniture. When it finishes it returns to the dock, which empties the bin into a 3 litre bag. The 2,600 mAh battery gives up to about 150 minutes of cleaning and recharges in about 4 hours.
When choosing a robot vacuum, compare the navigation and mapping system, the suction power, the battery runtime against the size of the home, the type of brushes (rubber brushes tangle less with hair) and, if it mops, how the mop is wetted and cleaned. The charging dock needs a socket and free space at the sides and in front; self-emptying docks use bags or bins that need emptying or replacing, and mop-washing docks have clean and dirty water tanks that are refilled and emptied by hand.
