The Dimplex EcoIQ DXPAC002 is a single-duct portable air conditioner that combines three functions in one unit: cooling with a rated capacity of 3.5 kW (12,000 BTU/h), dehumidifying at up to 1.7 litres per hour, and a fan-only mode with two speeds. It runs on R290 refrigerant and is rated energy class A with an EER of 2.6. The thermostat covers 16 to 31 °C and the timer can be set for up to 24 hours. It is operated from the touch panel with LED display on top, with the supplied remote, or through the Glen Dimplex Connect app over Wi-Fi, which also works with Alexa and Google Home. Castors and a handle make it easy to move between rooms, and it comes with a window kit, a 1.5 m exhaust hose and a continuous-drain hose. It measures 285 x 335 x 698 mm and weighs 23.4 kg.
When choosing a portable air conditioner, compare the cooling capacity with the size of the room, the noise level, the energy efficiency, the dehumidifying and fan functions and the type of exhaust hose. It needs a window or opening for the hot-air hose with a suitable sealing kit, a nearby socket used without extension leads and free space around the grilles; condensed water is handled as the manual describes (evaporation, tank or continuous drainage).
